Carpet Flooring Information

Underlay

Underlay is placed underneath carpet to provide comfort, to reduce wear on the carpet and also to insulate sound and heat.

Currently there are three types of underlay available in the market today, they are crushed crumb rubber underlay, rubber waffle underlay and PU foam.

The thicker the underlay is, the more effective it is regarding comfort, sound and heat insulation.

We pride ourselves on offering underlay at extremely low prices for all our ranges.

Your advisor will bring samples of our underlay ranges to your free home appointment.

Measuring

Book a free home visit and our friendly, expert advisor will measure your rooms for you for accurate sizings.

If you do want to measure your rooms yourself; here's our quick and easy guide:

  • Measuring length and width - for an accurate quote, we will require metric measurements from the two furthest points in your room.

  • Allow for extra - It is recommended that you add a 5cm cutting tolerance to all maximum measurements to allow for cutting and a perfect fit.

  • Stairs - It isn't necessary to measure every step on your staircase. Just measure the one stair and tell us the number of steps in your staircase. If the bottom stair is a different shape this must be measured seperately and included in your measurements.

Maintaining

Regular vacuuming, deep cleaning and stain removal has many benefits to maximise the life of your new carpet:

  • Longevity - ground in particles weaken carpet fibres.

  • Fresh, clean appearance - vacuuming at least 2 times a week and deep cleaning with steam once a year will help maintain your carpets looks.

  • Allergies/Asthma Improvements - regular cleaning will aid in the reduction of germs and dust.
